ABOUT BOOKS
by Tee A. Corinne

My column this issue has disappeared into the chaos of dealing with my lover’s cancer. There is one book, though, which cannot wait for the next issue. Because it is an exhibition catalog, it may not remain available for very long. Patricia Cronin: The Domain of Perfect Affection, 1993-2003, Buffalo, NY: University at Buffalo Art Gallery, Center for the Arts, 2004, 44 pp., ISBN 0-9748932-0-X, text by Sandra H. Olsen, Robert Rosenblum, and Sandra Firmin, features paintings of horses, landscapes with expensive houses, nude women (the untitled lovers series), an installation, and her sculpture “Memorial to a Marriage.” Work by Cronin (1963- ) is featured in Damn Fine Art by New Lesbian Artists, Smyth (1996) and Lesbian Art in America, Hammond (2000). This catalog for an exhibition held March 26-May 22, 2004 is an excellent introduction to Cronin’s work.

Bloom, a new magazine of gay and lesbian art and writing (ISSN 1550-3291), P.O. Box 1231, Old Chelsea Station, New York 10011. It is published twice a year. Featured in the second issue (vol. 1, no. 2, Summer 2004) are Roxa Smith and Tim Bond. http://www.bloommagazine.org
