Women’s Arts News is seeking biographical articles about well-known women visual artists from any time period, art movement or style. We define visual arts as fine arts (painting, sculpture, etc), decorative arts, design, photography and architecture. The article should be 400 to 700 words. (Due to space limits article above 700 words will not be accepted). We do not accept articles about or by artists seeking publicity, or articles previously published elsewhere. We recommend that the author register a copyright for the article with the U.S. Copyright Office. If the article is about a living artist it is up to the author to notify the artist and advise that the article will be published in Women’s Arts News. This is for the protection of the author and Women s Studio Center Inc. Submissions are preferred in the text of an e-mail.
Women’s Arts News is a newsletter, published monthly, September through May, at no cost to U.S. Residents. Our current readership is in the United States and Canada and totals 500, including artists, and professionals. We have readers all over the United States but our main focus in the New York City Tristate Area, including New Jersey, Connecticut and Westchester.

The Women’s Studio Center has just opened its new studio and office in Long Island City, New York. We are offering Open Studio Work Sessions -- time for artists to come and use our sapce. We offer peace and quiet and a professional studio environment. Weekday and evening sessions are $35.00 per month and Saturday sessions are $45.00 per month. In addition, we offer a Painting Class on Monday night -- acrylics and watercolors -- and Life Drawing Sessions on Saturdays, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., which are $15.00 per month.
The Boston University Symposium on the History of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Boston University, in conjunction with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is pleased to announce the eighteenth annual graduate student Symposium on the History of Art to be held on Saturday, March 23, 2002.
The symposium provides an opportunity for younger scholars to share their recent research in a professional forum. Eight short presentations, selected by a graduate student committee, will be delivered over the course of the day. We invite interested students from throughout the United States and Canada to take part in this event.
Students interested in participating should submit a one-page abstract (please include a title for your paper) and a cover letter, including your name, academic affiliation, and address. The deadline for abstracts is December 3, 2001. We invite papers from all areas of the discipline.
