ART GENRE/FORM PROJECT
ARLIS/NA CAC, IN CONJUNCTION WITH LC AND SAC GFIS
Issues:
- high level, do not want to recreate AAT or TGM
- significant word first, no inversion, natural language order, minimize qualifiers
- not included: audience, geography, chronology, language, ethnicity, religion
- styles, e.g., baroque, neorealist, experimental
- reproductions, e.g., photographs, art reproductions, illustrated works
- hybrids: split unless inseparable; music group is working on this so it may evolve over the next year
- post-coordination as much as possible
- music group tried to avoid parenthetical qualifiers
- performing arts vs performance art (see LCSH references between video and performance art)
- performance mediums may be LCMPT
- singular/plural
- don't worry about project overlap
Methodology:
- email list: thread for each proposed term; Janis will "lurk"
- include P&P (Barbara Natanson) and Julia
- potentially use GoToMeeting or Google Hangout or Skype for occasional online meetings
- use tags, as in LC proposal system: 155, 455, 555. 555 $w g, 670, 952
- MARCEdit (Dan Lipcan and Gina Solares have experience)
- completed terms with references in Google Doc or on CAC wiki
- initial pass to Janis/LC before too much concern about hierarchies
- don't need RTs if shared BT
- literature group did "massive" 670s and then edited them for submission in order to keep the justification as they were working on the terms
